My life is not that interesting on most days so I don't feel the need to write a post and share what I did if I only binge watched a show for the whole day in my PJ's. Today I had a discussion about post inspiration and what to write and somehow got to a conclusion why not write something about my current binge watching obsession! I talk about the shows at home all the time, get totally immersed in the story and get a lot of inspiration from the costumes and the era, bond with characters and the time in which the story is set in.
So here it is, my first binge review, and I start with Outlander!
As a huge fan of costumes, period dramas, historic novels and romance I follow a lot of blogs that give a lot of information about current shows and movies and even more about the ones that premiered int he past. So Outlander kept popping out on my wall and I got interested even more after reading some articles about its costumes. Unfortunately I kept postponing watching it until it magically appeared on Netflix! I was so happy, I felt like they read my mind and got to work. After the first episode I got completely hooked!
What got me interested in the story was the fact that ,once upon a time while I binge read a lot of romance novels over on Wattpad, I remember reading something similar. Something about a women that travels back in time and a sexy Scott who totally knocked her of her feet. But I am still not sure if it is related to Outlander or not, maybe it was a fan-fiction since I did not read the original novels on which the TV show is based on.
Anyway, the story, the emotions, the costumes and the very manly but yet very caring Jamie totally swept me of my feet and I could not stop watching the show, I got addicted and can barely wait for new episodes. Those official posts about costumes that pop out every other day and the fact that I started following their official pages everywhere, does not help. It just makes me want to watch it even more.
I really love all of the characters but the one that got me really interested is Claire's friend from 1968??!! - Geilis Duncan. I think she is a really interesting character, wrapped in mistery a little bit of magic and daring and I am really sad that her and Claire did not have a chance to sit down and talk about their time travel and their original times. Geilis also has a lot of interesting and very beautiful costumes and her husband is totally gas-tly ;) .
Claire and Jamie have that spark from the first frame in which they appeared together so their relationship and love and caring was really beautiful to watch. Jamie spends a lot of time getting tortured and wounded and without a shirt and Claire has a lot of foolish and naive reactions to some common 18th century happenings. Of course Mr. Randall, the one from 1945 and the one from 18th century are really good examples of a hate character. Somebody you just cannot stand and hate every minute of their time on the screen. The only difference between them is that the more modern Mr. Randall has not come out with his dark side yet, not completely at least but you can still feel he is a slime bag and I don't even want to start on his ancestor.
My favorite costumes from this season are Jamie's outfits :D and Claire's wedding dress. All of the costumes were brilliant but Claire's wedding dress stands out the most, as it should. I am really looking forward to everything that season 2 will bring. There are already a ton of photos online of beautiful beautiful costumes and I cant wait to see them.
This show deserves a place on my ''Im buying the whole collection on DVD'' list, together with Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife. If you haven't already watched Outlander, and you love this genre, I would take some days off and watch it all at once with some snacks! :) Call the Midwife is another of my latest binge favorites and probably a theme for my next binge review,
Hope you liked the post and that you will comment and share. Thanks for reading! :)
